the Three Stages For
Breaking down those Prison Walls
Stage 3 - Jesus will set you free
“Helping Inmates Start A New life”
Prison Life
Most inmates will deliberately conceal and suppress their emotions. This process is called “emotional numbing”. “It does harden you. It does make you distant”, it’s who you become, and if you are hard when you go into prison, you will be even harder when you come out. As a matter of fact (the longer you do time) the more you will become totally detached. With help (from God and others), even harden criminals can re-enter society.
Leaving prison can be scary and exciting at the same time. But if trust God, He will help you deal with every challenge you may face.
Daily Hope Prison Ministries is a Jesus based organization offering many get-on-with-life programs designed to give released inmates the best chance for a future after a life in prison.
Attention:
It is important to remember that there are a lot of people and organizations in prison and in every community who can and will help and support you to “Resettle”
Note: Resettlement is a word used by many prisons use when an inmate leaves prison and re-enters a community.

These programs are designed to offer help and support all freed inmates.
Lodging Inmates released from prison generally receive little pre-release support (DHP Ministries plans to offer a future program in this area) in securing accommodation and are often unable to find suitable living arrangements. Social isolation is a major problem for many ex-inmates who may end up homeless or with unstable, unsuitable housing. Many re-offenders say that this is one of the main reasons they can’t live on the outside.

Family Support
A potential source of support and assistance for reentry into any community is the inmate’s family and friends. To have a fair chance to re-enter society inmate’s need all the support they can get. So, if you are a family member or a friend you need to show you care. Start by contacting an organization and offering your help.

Substance Abuse Interventions
“Drug dependent offenders are caught in a vicious circle. This will continue unless the treatment they receive in prison is maintained on their return to the community. There is a very good chance they will relapse and begin their old ways of supporting their drug use. This will result in offenders returning to prison time and time again.

Engaging Communities All communities have a key role to play in the successful reintegration of ex-prisoners. However, there are strategies needed to mobilize communities to get involved in assistance and supervision programs. Communities usually over-rely on the criminal justice system to provide supervision. Many community-based services have been developed to help those who care get involved in doing what ever has to be done to help our brothers and sisters re-enter society.

Employment Assistance
Employment provides more than income (a paycheck) it provides structure and routine. It also provides opportunities to expand one’s social network and can contribute to enhanced self-esteem and other psychological health.

Conclusion
Concern with community safety and with assisting offenders has resulted in an increased focus on the reintegration of offenders in the community and the reduction of re-offending. This has included securing legal employment, finding suitable accommodation, addressing substance abuse issues, and identifying family and community assets.
